Wow, Thanksgiving week already! Just few days ago my wife said to me “Did you know Thanksgiving was next week?” Time has a tendency to go by unnoticed. Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday. I typically spend a few days with family and recharge before the end of year rush. And, NO, I do not partake in the black Friday craziness. I did that once and will NEVER do that again! This week I thought I’d share with you some of the things that I feel thankful for and hopefully help you feel more thankful as well.
I am Thankful For…
This is the time when I begin to reflect on all that has happened in the last year. Like many of you, I start the new year with good intentions. Although things never work out exactly as I had planned or hoped, I always seem to find growth and progress in what I’ve accomplished. Small successes are often overlooked throughout the year, and are often shadowed by the next struggle or challenge. Taking time to feel gratitude will give you a better perspective, more positive attitude, and improved results! Here are a few things that I am grateful for this year!
My Family
I didn’t put this on here just because I feel obligated, I am truly grateful for my family. Since I have started out on my own business my family has been extremely supportive. Every step along the way everyone from my wife, my father, his wife, my sisters and in-laws have been 100% supportive. They never mention a negative word and believe in what I am doing. My kids are proud of me, in their own way, and are quick to point out things I can incorporate into my business. The encouragement, support and pride keep me moving when I have days or weeks that aren’t as productive as I had hoped. Thank you to my family for being there for me.
Friends and Network
Throughout the course of this year, I have met hundreds of people through different networking opportunities. The distribution list for this email is proof of that! I am thankful for all the relationships I have been able to build during this year. I have been able to grow and build my business primarily from being able to build these relationships. I find much satisfaction when I can refer a client or a customer to a friend, and in return I am always grateful when someone sends a referral my way. Referrals are a clear indicator of building relationships, and I am thankful for the trust others put in me by referring me. I am also grateful for a network of trustworthy people that I can refer clients to in confidence they will be treated well.
Courage
The last thing on my list for this week is I am thankful for the courage to take a chance on my dreams. I am doing what I love, and I’ve never had higher job satisfaction. I am grateful for the courage to take risks every day. The courage to put myself out there, to meet new people and face the possibility of rejection. The satisfaction of overcoming those fears is a huge reward. I am grateful for being able to experience the freedom this career is affording me. I have been able to support my family, and have the flexibility to enjoy time with my kids.
This Week’s Challenge
When sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner take time to find something that makes you grateful! Most importantly take time to FEEL gratitude.
